We founded Inspire Web Development for one simple reason: to help small, medium and large businesses get online, stay online and get value from being online.
From our base in Perth, Scotland, our work has enabled over a hundred firms from around the world take advantage of the opportunities a fantastic web presence can bring. We’ve got the skill set, framework and experience to handle any type of IT project, from a comprehensive website for a multinational like Diageo to an e-Commerce site for a local sole trader.
We’re especially proud of the fact that of all the companies we’ve worked for, over 50 were small businesses with no previous web exposure.
Our company combines a professional, systematic approach to a client’s needs with flexibility and creativity. We offer our clients a true partnership, meeting to discuss their needs, documenting their requirements thoroughly, working to agreed parameters and obtaining sign-off at every stage of the process. Put simply, we design our clients’ websites around their needs and not ours.
We have particular expertise in working with the licensed trade, financial services, retail, automotive, IT, education, management consultancies and psychological services. But whatever your business sector, we believe passionately in delivering solutions that match your needs, backed up by extensive after-sales support; all our clients enjoy two site reviews per year covering a wide range of key performance criteria.
From the very start we wanted our business to be client-focused, and it remains so to this day. We’ve also responded to our clients’ demands for a more comprehensive range of Web and IT services from their trusted web development partner. A flexible team of programmers, designers and search engine experts now gives us the capacity to work together on a wide range of projects, all managed to industry-standard PRINCE2 guidelines.
But what also sets Inspire apart from its competitors is our commitment to professional development. We keep our skills sharp by attending seminars and conferences from industry leaders such as Google and Microsoft. With each passing month, one ‘web year’ passes in terms of how quickly technology evolves, and we are committed to keeping our company on the right side of this evolution. We always use our regular site reviews to make sure our clients benefit from any recent developments in technology, project management or design.
Three years after we founded our company, we are both still personally involved in every project we take on. Everyone we work with shares our vision of creating websites that work for our clients and add value to their businesses.
And it doesn’t get more inspiring than that.
David Dwyer and Martin J Smith, Founders and Directors, Inspire Web Development
Martin’s Profile
Martin is Inspire's expert in web technologies. He has spent many years in the industry and keeps abreast of all the latest developments. He leads our team of talented web developers and graphic designers, and makes sure they continue to produce the high-quality results our customers have come to expect.
Martin’s first degree at Glasgow University was in Accountancy, but after completing a Masters in Information Technology he realised where he wanted to pursue his career. Although he now works for Inspire in a management capacity, Martin began his IT career as a programmer and web developer; he is very aware of what it takes to create a website from scratch.
Before founding Inspire with David, Martin spent five years working in the Application Development department at Norwich Union (Aviva), one of the UK's largest insurance companies. He then progressed to manage the web team at the Internet start-up company PeopleMaps.com, now the UK's leading online personality-profiling company.
In his spare time Martin is a keen poker player. He enjoys the challenge the game offers as well as the camaraderie at the table.
David's Profile
“The web is evolving at a phenomenal pace, with one real month = one web year. The capability of what businesses can do on the web is expanding at a tremendous rate. The best way for us to provide our clients with great advice is to invest our time in understanding what is coming next and position our clients to take advantage of this.”
- David Dwyer, Managing Director
David’s role within Inspire is to drive the business forward. Apart from a Wednesday morning networking @ BNI Fair City he is normally found managing client projects, attending conferences/seminars or writing web articles.
He has a unique background, with nine years’ experience in a range of web and IT roles plus seven years in sales and marketing in a blue-chip FMCG company. Prior to his MSc and co-founding Inspire, David worked for Scottish Brewers, now Heineken UK, and was for over seven years a successful sales manager. He also worked across the IT and project management functions for Norwich Union, Aviva and RAC-Auto Windscreens, delivering projects in a range of sizes.
David’s academic and professional qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Business Economics (Personnel) from the University of Paisley, an MSc in Information Technology (Systems) from Heriot-Watt University and PRINCE2 Practitioner-level certification. He is also an active member of the British Computer Society.
